Linux Graphics Group Meeting Announcement
Recap of the first LGG meeting, Feb 6, 2002, 7-9pm
by Robin (rower@movieeditor.com)
Thanks to everyone who came and made the meeting a success! We had four present. Everyone was from Richmond. We could have all carpooled!
Highlights of my recollection of conversations -- not complete or necessarily accurate.
Cam talked about Corel and designing Web pages. He mentioned that Corel had purchased a vector-based graphic tool company but then neglected to develop it. Although Corel sold off their Linux distro after the Microsoft deal, they retain the Linux versions of CorelDRAW and WordPerfect. Cam wondered if there might be a more convenient meeting location in Richmond.
Wendy mentioned she uses CorelDRAW, too. She recently relocated to the area and is going on job interviews. Cam listed some local companies he is familiar with. Gabrielle talked about some difficulties with Photoshop.
Robin mentioned that one of the studios he talked with today found out it is in the running for an Academy Award for some special effects done using Linux.
