Linux has become the most popular operating system for animation and special effects in the motion picture industry. CinePaint project leader Robin Rowe (www.CinePaint.org) leads an informal get-together for those interested in Linux motion picture technology. Discussion of Linux-based graphics tools such as Blender, CinePaint, Houdini, Maya, Mental Ray, NUKE, POV-Ray, Radiance, Renderman, Shake, and SoftImage.

*** DIRECTIONS AND PARKING ***

The ArcLight is located on Sunset Blvd. just west of Vine St. in Hollywood.

• From Glendale: Rt. 134 West, exit Lankershim south (you can't get on Rt. 101 South directly), pass Universal Studios and under bridge, turn right at light and right again on 101 South, exit on Vine St. south.
• From Los Angeles: Rt. 101 North, exit on Vine St. south.
• From Santa Monica: Rt. 10 West, exit La Brea north, after 1.5 miles jog right on Edgewood Place then north again on Highland, after 0.6 miles right on 3rd east, after 1 mile turn left on Rossmore north, becomes Vine in a mile, one more mile to Sunset.
• From Beverly Hills: Santa Monica Blvd. east, north on La Cienga, east on Sunset.

Look for the big dome. Public parking in the ArcLight, about $4 with discount voucher available at meeting. At the ArcLight, go to the banquet room -- just south outside the main entrance. Food available next door in the ArcLight Cafe. We head over there about 8pm.

We will be meeting again on Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Bakers Square in Castro Valley. We will be meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month, and will probably meet at Baker's Square for a while (at least until we're too big for that space).
